At St Columb Major School we aim to achieve a happy, caring and close working environment where children are given the opportunity to realise their full potential in all aspects of school life.
Children are generally more likely to succeed at school where staff and parents work closely together. We aim to develop a close co-operation between Home and School - staff here at St Columb School are caring, hardworking and enthusiastic and would welcome parents to help in the classroom - to hear children read or to assist with curriculum tasks in small groups.
We are most willing to meet with parents to discuss any problems which my arise from time to time. An appointment can usually be arranged promptly after school. St Columb C P School is recognised as being an excellent school where staff set high standards and expect children to work to the very best of their ability. We wish our relationship with parents to be a joint partnership and hope that you will support us and reinforce the learning they are receiving in school, by attending parents evenings, hearing your child read regularly and by discussing your child's work with them so that together your child's potential can be realised.
At St Columb Major your child will have the opportunity of receiving an education which puts great emphasis on the mastering of the basics - high standards of reading, writing and spelling, a mastery of number work, neat presentation, and high standards of good behaviour. National Curriculum is well taught and opportunities are given for children to take part in many different extra-curricular activities throughout lunchtime and after school.
