For families, the true test of any holiday destination is the range of activities available for the children. Newquay has worked hard to make the town appealing to families, so it comes as no surprise then that the area is filled with many child-friendly attractions and activities. Some of the more popular ones include:
Pony rides and races, bottle feeding baby lambs, and cuddling cute bunnies are sure fire hits with the young ones. There is also a camping ground, a café, a diaper-changing room, and picnic benches available to round up a fun-filled day. For mothers, the entire park is breastfeeding-friendly, and bottle warmers are also available for milk and baby food. To top it all off, there’s a play barn and fun park with slides. It’s like heaven for kids!
The nursery rhyme has come to life at Old MacDonalds Farm in Padstow. There are chickens, cows, pigs and ponies that children can play with (and pet), as well as a variety of play equipment. For slightly older children, the farm offers tractor rides, trampolines, crazy golf, a game room (with table tennis and foosball table) and even a miniature train! Old MacDonalds Farm is closed during winters, so please plan your visit accordingly.
With a name like the Camel Centre, you know what the prime attraction is going to be. Yes, camels, the exotic creature that most children (and adults) only know from Disney’s Aladdin. The camel rides are obviously the highlight here, but there are many other activities that families can partake in while staying in the cottages inside the farm. Hiking and exploring the Nature Reserve of Goonhilly Downs are two crowd favourites. Additionally, the Camel Centre also does weddings and private parties, so the children will have plenty to amuse themselves with while guests are kept busy at the reception.
